SOFT-302-2: Storage as a Service (STaaS) (Software Track)
Paper Title: Agile Data Centers Underpin R&D

Paper Abstract: As it is faced with supply chain constraints and growing geopolitical challenges, industry increasingly needs to re-design its infrastructure in order to better enable its future agility. Long-term adoption of hybrid work environments has reduced reliance on traditional infrastructure, and as such it is essential that memory and storage manufacturers as well as extended supply chain partners have the operational control and flexibility to adjust, plan and scale workload placements accordingly. Leading players in the storage and memory industry are recognizing the need to redirect capital to developing new fabs and future design rather than building their own data centers (DCs). Software increasingly underpins the flexibility needed for iterative data and analytical design processes in R&D, and this drives a unique set of needs in DC infrastructure. Sustainability is a key requirement in the design, build and operation of next-generation DCs, including the use of new advanced-cooling technologies to support high-density GPU and HPC environments. In this talk, Bill Cory will discuss how a data-driven partnership approach with the semiconductor industry can have a significant impact on the drive towards an environment in which all players win.
