Paper Title: Storage At The Edge - Solving Latency & Bandwidth Constraints
Paper Abstract: Storage at the Edge is where physical meets the digital - where real-time data is received, processed, generated, consumed, and transferred between applications and user systems. With more applications moving to the cloud at breakneck speeds, it's become increasingly important to improve performance and reduce operational costs - this can be done when solutions are located at the edge. Edge infrastructure can alleviate both Latency and Bandwidth issues, especially when managing large amounts of data by distributing computing and storage resources closer to the micro, metro, and macro edge locations where data is generated and consumed. This presentation will highlight 3 Case Studies: 1. Media & Entertainment: Innovative Virtual Production during COVID-19 2. Autonomous Underwater Vehicles for Offloading Oceanic Data 3. NASA funded massive drone-gathered data sets for saving the environment
Paper Author: Michael Gluck, President, Gluck Enterprises
Author Bio: Gluck Enterprises provides Digital Transformation and Enterprise Hybrid Cloud consulting services to vendors, resellers and end-users. Key application focus areas are: Artificial Intelligence (especially Deep Learning), Real-time Security (especially Zero Trust Architectures and Ransomware). Mike gluck was EVP of Fujitsu America Storage Products Division (since acquired by Toshiba) for 12 years, overseeing growth from $30M to over $500M. Fujitsu was the first Japanese company to design (Colorado) and Manufacture (Oregon) tape and disk drives in the US (some of which were subsequently exported to Japan for use in Fujitsu computer systems).
