SSDS-201-2: Form Factors and Interfaces Part 2 (SSD Technology Track)
Paper Title: Understanding High Performance NVMe BGA SSD and its Challenges

Paper Abstract: NVMe SSD has proved to be a great fit for Flash based Drives and has been steadily taking up market share within SSD. NVMe has made its mark in the high end client and high performance enterprise space. Recently NVMe host protocol is being looked at to replace mobile and low cost segment which are traditionally dominated by eMMC and UFS protocols. It allows lot of benefit of the existing ecosystem and capabilities of the protocol. However due to the extremely small form factor and very different integration needs of MultiChip packaging, BGA SSD brings new challenges and opportunities to innovate.
