Paper Title: A high-performance low-power multi-rate 4K LDPC codec for 3D TLC and QLC Flash
Paper Abstract: We present the latest results of our multi-rate 4K LDPC encoder and decoder, that perfectly support all major 3D TLC and QLC NANDs with different spare bytes, manufactured by different vendors. Latest 3D QLC NAND requires a controller to correct more error bits, but with a limited budget of power. Our LDPC codec has a best-in-class error correction capability and lowest-in-class power consumption. At a FER of 1E-3, our decoder corrects 27% more error bits than some vendors. At a same throughput, the power of our decoder is about 1/5 of that of a typical design in the industry.

Author Bio: Tisheng is the co-founder and CEO of EigenBit Technology, where he leads the design of NAND Flash controller, LDPC encoder/decoder, and firmware. He was an associate researcher in Microsoft Research Asia since 2008. In 2010, he joined Corerise Electronics as R&D director to lead the development of SSD products. He holds a Master of Science in Physics from Peking University, China.
