INVT-202-2: Invited Talk with Christopher Cox (Invited Talks Track)
Paper Title: CXL's Memory Form Factors: A Powerful Set of Options

Paper Abstract: CXL is set to allow for a reinvention and mass expansion of form factors and solutions, and this has led to a wide array of options. This presentation will walk through how the DRAM DIMM is set to evolve into new form factors, but how selecting the right form factor is not a simple choice as there is no clear guidance for this important issue. We will show a few of the front runner form factors, and how the controller layout & packaging can vary dramatically based on the routing and solution choice. As such, there is a clear need for the industry to agree to at least a couple of the solutions (and their associated controllers) to help reduce cost, and to make CXL Memory Solutions successful.
