Paper Title: Debugging High-Latency Bursts on Data Center Workloads

Paper Abstract: Summarized data collection and capture tools for the Data Center can lose fine grain visibility. Events of interest can be like finding a needle in a haystack. For example, storage latency outliers can happen in sub-second bursts. Because most tools report data as averages and histograms, some problems can be hard to identify and correlate. Problems can also span multiple layers and can be hard to identify and correlate. Teledyne LeCroy is using their new WorkloadIntelligence(TM) software tool set to help their Data Centers customers find and characterize unanticipated high-latency bursts (and other performance issues) with their production workloads and resolve the issue(s).

Author Bio: Rob Dobson is Director Product Marketing at OakGate Technology, a leading producer of test tools for solid-state storage. He heads product marketing for an entire test platform that includes user interface, test and validation software, and hardware products for testing edge cards and SSDs. He has over 20 years experience in the high-technology industry, including executive positions in product strategy at HP and HPE. He earned a BS in computer science from National University and has done postgraduate work in business administration at Portland State University. He holds three patents.
