Wednesday, August 9th 9:45-10:50 AM | SPOS-202-1: JEDEC Standards Part 2: Future-forward Insights (Sponsored Sessions Track) | Organizer + Chairperson: Jonathan Hinkle, Distinguished Member of Technical Staff, Micron Technology | Paper Title: Introduction to JEDEC's Separate Command Address (SCA) Protocol
Paper Abstract: As NAND interface speeds increase, non-data traffic on the NAND interface becomes a bigger component of overall channel traffic, consuming interface bandwidth that could have otherwise been devoted to user data. This paper introduces the Separate Command Address (SCA) protocol - a new NAND interface protocol recently defined and approved by the JEDEC JC42.4 committee. The protocol separates non-data traffic from data traffic, allowing more efficient use of interface bandwidth, allowing greater opportunities for interleaving, enabling systems to achieve higher throughput.
