NVMF-302-1: Benefits and Use Cases for NVMe-oF (NVMe-oF Track)
Paper Title: NVMe-oF: Benefits and Use Cases for Production Applications

Paper Abstract: As NVMe-oF is gaining momentum and more organizations are interested in what that means for their products, architectures, and infrastructure. Over the last year there has been an increase in the NVMe-oF ecosystem software and hardware support. The question most organizations are looking to answer is where and when to look at adopting NVMe-oF. NVMe-oF is a diverse technology and can be consumed by end users as well as product vendors. This presentation will take a look at the benefits of NVMe-oF as a back-end transport for expanding NVMe scale. It will also examine NVMe-oF as a front-end transport for enhancing application performance, enabling new architectures, and expanding the benefit of shared storage to new applications. We will provide examples and real world use cases where NVMe-oF has been used. We will also discuss the journey to NVMe-oF and considerations that need to be taken when choosing a transport.
