SOFT-202-1: Key-Value Store and Linux Technologies (Software Track)
Paper Title: Key-Value SSDs: Design Overview and Use Cases

Paper Abstract: An enormous amount of unstructured data is now being generated in this cloud era. RocksDB/LevelDB is commonly used to store this kind of unstructured data. Because RocksDB/LevelDB is based on many software layers that result in a large amount of write amplification, its performance bottleneck is always a tough issue for many cloud companies. SSDs have always been used as a block device, but they actually have very different characteristics as compared with disk drives. This talk will address how SSDs can be designed to store Key-Value data directly so as to not overwhelm RocksDB/LevelDB in performance.
