SOFT-202-1: Key-Value Store and Linux Technologies (Software Track)
Paper Title: Smart Key-Value Storage for 3D XPoint and 3D QLC SSDs

Paper Abstract: 3D XPoint fills the performance gap between DRAM and NAND-based SSDs while 3D NAND QLC SSD reduces the cost gap between SSDs and hard drives. Combining these two technologies can improve performance and reduce TCO. This talk will introduce a smart key-value storage engine that manages 3D XPoint and 3D QLC SSDs. The engine is developed and optimized based on 3D XPoint and 3D NAND QLC characteristics. This hybrid solution is best tuned for performance, QoS and endurance, independent from upper services and applications. The ratio of 3D XPoint and 3D NAND SSDs is configurable to meet different requirements for matrix of performance, QoS, endurance and cost. A $/GB-based TCO model will also be introduced.
