Paper Title: SSD and Container Native Storage for High-Performance Database

Paper Abstract: DevOps container management and orchestration is a problem that's received much attention and has many usable alternatives. One thing missing from many of these alternatives is a way of providing a high performance, persistent storage subsystem for databases and other performance-critical uses. RedHat Container Native Storage (CNS) on OpenShift, with SSD storage from Western Digital, is one solution to this problem. This talk will present the results of MySQL performance testing using the DVDStore 2 database benchmark, using RedHat OpenShift integrated with Gluster on SSDs as container native storage, performed in the Western Digital performance labs. We will discuss the results and parallelism achieved, and how this can apply to more general performance critical containerized workloads.

Paper Author: Earle Philhower, Sr Technical Marketing Manager, Western Digital
