Paper Title: How Will Your Enterprise SSD Handle Real Workloads?

Paper Abstract: Measures based on benchmarks or special test configurations are often quite misleading. What designers and customers both want to know is how an SSD will perform for a specific application. That involves many factors, including the I/Os that occur when the application is running, the hardware/software stack being used, and the streams that present to your array storage. Fortunately, hardware and software is available that captures the required information during actual test runs. You can then present the captured information to your SSD and see how it does. The results are often quite surprising! Vendors and customers alike can get realistic performance pictures, see how competing devices compare, and determine whether an SSD is suitable for a particular application or what applications the vendor should target.
