Paper Title: Intelligent Hybrid Flash Management

Paper Abstract: The concept of an intelligent SSD is not new, but it is gaining importance as the demand for fast data computing grows. Executing a pre-processing algorithm where the data is stored can avoid much of the data movement between the storage cluster and the compute node, leading to improved performance, lower power consumption, and lower infrastructure cost. This talk will present an intelligent SSD architecture based on a hybrid NAND Flash management device strategy and a low power, many-core CPU. Such an architecture provides software flexibility and massive parallel processing, which is ideal for image processing and any application requiring multi-task acceleration. A use case involving artificial intelligence will be described, including a simulation that provides some performance numbers.
