NEWM-301A-1: Life Beyond Flash - New Non-Volatile Memory Technologies (New Memory Technologies Track Track)
Chairperson: Jim Cantore, President, JLC Associates

Organizer: Dave Eggleston, Principal, Intuitive Cognition Consulting

Paper Title: Emerging Memory and Capital Spending Trends

Paper Abstract: The demand for non-volatile memory is expanding beyond the capabilities of flash memory. The volatile memories used in computers, embedded products and data centers are facing new competition from non-volatile memory options. This presentation will explore these options with observations on the benefits and drawbacks of each technology and how they are finding applications. Projections will be made for the growth of these NVM technologies (particularly 3D-XPoint and MRAM) for various applications and this will be the basis for projections for capital spending to support the production of these emerging NVMs.
