Paper Title: Unleashing Data-Driven Applications with Computational Storage

Paper Abstract: The majority of Database and Big Data applications have been deployed in scale-out systems that utilize either all-Flash storage solutions or low-cost spinning media for storage. The proliferation of Computational Storage has now changed the landscape for flash integration into Database and Big Data infrastructure by not only enabling terabytes of low-latency Flash storage, but also balancing the system with highly efficient compute engines for intense processing functions. This presentation will discuss the dramatic application level benefits (higher transactions per second throughput and reduced job run time) Computational Storage brings to Database and Big Data infrastructure in many application usage models (MySQL, HBase, Aerospike, Hadoop, etc.) through comparing performance benchmarks, explaining what server resources are most heavily taxed, and how unlocking both storage I/O and compute bottlenecks in a cohesive solution is delivery real-world benefits today.
