Paper Title: New Flash Technologies Can Meet Real-Time Needs

Paper Abstract: Until recently, flash storage has not provided fast enough access time to support real-time needs for applications such as payment fraud detection, identity management, target detection and identification, and real-time billing or bidding. However, recent innovations such as 3D flash, NVMe, NVMe-oF, and 3D XPoint have provided much higher transaction throughput. Databases have also been updated to take full advantage of hardware advances. The combination has led to storage systems capable of handling real-time requirements without resorting to expensive accelerators or other hardware aids. The result will be faster processing, lower costs, and fewer errors.
