Paper Title: Developing IoT-Based Factory Automation Using F-RAM

Paper Abstract: Factory automation is transitioning from legacy applications to more advanced Industry architectures, placing new demand for improvements at the field level. Sensors, actuators, and machines will be operating through machine-to-machine communications at the edge of the network to log data continuously. There will be hundreds of sensors around the system to monitor processes, system health, and flag time critical alerts when required. Past solutions, based on a low-speed legacy SPI interface, can’t meet the requirements of high performance systems and risk losing critical sensor data during data logging. The solution is more processing and data-logging memory capability at the remote nodes, requiring the high-endurance, high-data-retention, and instant-data-capture inherent in advanced F-RAM technology. The addition of 108MHz QSPI bandwidth supports high speed sensor data such as motor vibration sensors and coalesced data at collection points.
