Paper Title: Ceph Optimizations for NVMe

Paper Abstract: Ceph is the leading scale-out storage of choice for private cloud and telco datacenters. Although enterprise-feature ready and promising from a sequential performance standpoint, Ceph historically has had issues keeping up with advances in non-volatile storage technology, particularly high-performance NVMe-attached flash and 3D XPoint, which offer excellent random I/O performance and low latency. Today, the Ceph open-source community is in the process of reworking the Ceph storage engine to address these performance gaps and realize the full potential of the new storage media. In this talk, we'll examine Ceph architecture and performance in the context of all-NVMe backends, and talk about planned approaches to improving performance on the Ceph cluster and client side.
