Paper Title: PCIe BGA SSD for Automotive Applications

Paper Abstract: ADAS is confirmed to be a trend in automotive industry and it requires a very fast data communication among vehicles. Small form factor, high speed and high capacity data storage become essential to the ecosystem. PCIe BGA SSD with the latest 3D NAND technology can fulfill the requirements of speed and capacity. DRAM-less SSD design benefits BOM reduction, product reliability, power consumption and the smaller form factor SSD package. Automotive standard for SSD storage is also becoming a clear criteria for product qualification. In the presentation, Mason Chen is going to present the latest PCIe BGA SSD development status with real measurement data for automotive industry standard. The audience will have a better understanding for all the key factors in automotive PCIe BGA SSD.

Paper Author: Mason Chen, Product Marketing Manager, Silicon Motion

Author Bio: Mason Chen is the SSD product marketing manager at Silicon Motion. He managed key design wins that grew market share in controllers for 2D and 3D NAND and SATA and PCIe interfaces. Before joining Silicon Motion in 2013, Mason developed CMOS image sensor processing technologies for Sonix Technology. Currently, he is expanding DRAM-less controller products from PC applications to automotive. Mason holds a M.S.E.E from Santa Clara University.
