Paper Title: Open Source Software for Managing Performance Analysis of Flash Storage

Paper Abstract: Flash performance is affected by read/write and random/sequential ratios. The Storage Networking Industry Association (SNIA) has established performance test specifications (PTS) to test flash storage for enterprise and client systems. We have developed integrated software that meets the PTS' objectives. A visual analysis module generates text and graphical test results, a database handles history tracking and report comparison, and a web-based user interface makes the software easy to use. The software identifies performance characteristics and inspects defects in storage devices. Employing easily understood visual analytics, users can graphically compare performance between drives. They can also identify ways to enhance products and clarify error messages. The work has been made open-source and is readily available to all performance testers.
