A-101: Architectures (Architectures/Software/Tools Track)
Paper Title: Upgrading Data Centers with Data Processing Units (DPUs)

Paper Abstract: With many successful deployments, SmartNICs are already playing a significant role in the computer industry. More recently, data processing units (DPUs) have emerged, providing SmartNIC functionality plus new capabilities aimed at especially demanding applications. A DPU consists of a multicore CPU, a high-performance network interface, and a set of programmable acceleration engines aimed at such applications as AI, machine learning, security, telecom, and storage. Initial implementations show large increases in throughput for a wide range of data-centric systems.
